Final Blog Post

Final Blog Post:
At first, I had a hard time to read the articles in the new york time, because the reports there had much longer sentences and various structures. What more, many words there were unfamiliar to me, so I need to read with my dictionary all the time. As time went on, things got better. I became adjust to the reported, and it took much less time to read an article. And I began to use the sentence structures I met in the New York TImes into my writing class essays.

I think I have learned a lot of thing about how to writing and rewriting news and stories after taking this course. Now I would consider more about my opinion about the story and then come up a new perspective or idea when I want to write an essay. Instead of just summaring the content that I have read in from others' articles, I prefer to do forwarding and countering now. I think this is a very helpful change in my writing part, because I think others would like to see more analyses and different perspectives about the story. And as for me, I can go though the story by myself, and really think about it.

This skill is really important for academic writing, and I will use Harris' method in rewriting in the future. And I  think our Chinese students even need to think about the method more, and it really help us to prove our writing skills. When I was in the a Tibet religion course in the last quater, the professor told us to do the discussion board. I thought I did a good job; however, I always could not get a very high grade in the that part. I talked with my professor, and she answered my question. She told me that she studied in China for several years, and she knew that Chinese students were really good at math, science and summary. However, they did not good at analysis. But in America, professors wanted their students have their own opinions about different issues. They focused more on analysis in the students' essays.
